The 1 oz .99999 Canadian Klondike Gold Coin: Passage for Gold, pays tribute to the White Pass & Yukon Route (WP&YR) Railway. Rendered in vivid detail is a freight train alongside prospectors searching for gold near the railroad tracks.
As the Klondike Gold Rush continued, there grew an increasing need for transportation; the WP&WR railway spanned 175 km and required the efforts of 35,000 workers to overcome the steep and rough terrain from Skagway, Alaska to Whitehorse, Yukon. Both supplies and people traveled along this route up into the Yukon’s interior, and then gold would be transported via rail to the coast. This coin recognizes the people and advancements that made such a “passage of gold” possible.
These coins come individually sealed in a credit card sized assay certificate.
