The fourth release in the Next Generation series by the Perth Mint depicts a parent and baby platypus.

Platypuses can be found living in the swamps, lakes and rivers of eastern Australia and Tasmania.  An excellent swimmer, the platypus spends most of its time hunting for food underwater.  Primarily nocturnal, the aquatic animal is often seen during the hours of early morning and late evening.

The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2021 year-date, the weight and purity, and the monetary denomination are shown on the coin’s obverse.

Struck by The Perth Mint from 2oz of 99.99% pure silver, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 and has a maximum mintage of 75,000 pieces.
